This article investigates the components of three dimensions of self-regulated musical learning - motivation, social factors and the physical environment - in online lessons for rubbed string instruments. The results indicate that the opportunity to overcome geographical barriers provided by this modality led to the active involvement of the participants, while persistence was correlated with the perception of progress in the student's performance. In addition, the teachers adopted strategies to promote self-regulated behavior, such as using mental images, structuring the environment and seeking help from their peers.
