Biography

Studio singer and solo vocalist, vocal coach on television programs (The Voice, RTP song festival, among others) and theater plays, composer and singer-actress. PhD in Musical Sciences and researcher at INET-md Lisbon, she completed her master's thesis in 2010 and her doctorate thesis in December 2019, as well as her postgraduate degree in Acoustics and Sound Studies on the same year. She has participated in several international conferences and her publications include the articles "A Sense of "Otherness": The Use of the English Language in the Construction of Portuguese Pop-Rock”, in Interrogating Gazes: Comparative Critical Views on the Representation of Foreignness and Otherness, edited by Monserrat Cots, Pere Gifra-Adroher and Glyn Hambrook. Bern, Berlin, Brussels, Frankfurt am Main, New York, Oxford, Vienna: Peter Lang, 2013. 343-350, and The virtual” producer in the studio of recording: media networks in long-distance peripheral performances", in The Art of Record Production - Creative Practice in the Studio, Vol.2, Edited by Simon Zagorsky-Thomas, Katia Isakoff, Sophie Stévance and Serge Lacasse. in ARP magazine (JARP, numbers 6 and 10). In 2020, she became a member of the EUROVISIONS research team, where she co-authored articles and oral presentations, as well as co-organized the annual conference (already in its seventh edition in 2024) also as a member of the respective scientific committee. Currently, she is finishing the book based on her doctoral thesis Back to the black box”: Lisbons music recording studios and their stories (1973-2019).
