Biography

Dario Ranocchiari is a Researcher at Universidad de Granada (Spain), and Collaborator Researcher at INET-md. He received his PhD. in social anthropology from the Universidad de Granada (2013), a 1 year MA in cultural sciences from the Collegio San Carlo di Modena (2006) and a graduation in anthropology/ethnomusicology from the University of Rome La Sapienza (2005). He carried out ethnographic research in Portugal, Colombia, Argentina and Spain. As a visual ethnographer, he realized documentary films and music videos. His main research interests are participatory and audiovisual research methodologies applied to the relationships between the performing arts (especially music) and identity/ethnicity issues, migration and social activism. He is the PI of the projects “ADD Archivo Dialógico Digital” (UGR MEdialab, 2019-2020) and “Participatory Music Videos” (2017-2020). He is currently participating in different FCT projects undergoing at the Universidade de Aveiro. In 2019, he won the grant “Diego Carpitella” from Fondazione Giorgio Cini for the realization of an ethnomusicological documentary film on neoandalusí music scene in Granada.
