Observatório da Canção de Protesto (OCP): INET-md / IHC partnership with the Municipality of Grândola publicly released on September 19th
The Municipality of Grândola announced that it will publicly present the Observatório da Canção de Protesto on September 19th in the municipality building in Grândola. The project, formally constituted in March 2nd, 2015, has the Instituto de História Contemporânea (IHC) and the Instituto de Etnomusicologia - Centro de Estudos de Música e Dança (INET-md) as official partners.
The OCP aims to the study, observation, systematization and dissemination of information about the protest song, with a particular emphasis on the musical song form. It Intends to preserve the cultural heritage of all who, through music, engaged and committed to defend the values of liberty, fraternity and equality.
The activities will start at 17h in the headquarters of the Sociedade Musical Fraternidade Operária Grandolense (SMFOG). The first meeting of the OCP's Advisory Council OCP will attended by representative personalities of the world of Protest Song (authors, singers, academics, journalists), such as Professor Anthony Seeger, Adelino Gomes, Manuel Freire, Viriato Teles, John Lóio, Joaquim Vieira, Mário Correia, Paul Sucena and Rui Junior.
In September 21th a musical performance will take place, featuring artists from different sensitivities linked to musical form as a means of protest and intervention.
The OCP also has a partnership with the Associação José Afonso (AJA).
