The Mafra City Hall, the Macau Scientific and Cultural Centre (CCCM) and the Jorge Álvares Foundation inaugurate the Exhibition of Chinese Musical Instruments on July 7, at 10:30 am, in the new Gallery, located in the South Tower of the Royal Building of Mafra, on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the inscription of this ensemble on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

The exhibition, which will be open until 30 April 2023, reveals to the Portuguese public and foreign visitors a representative collection of Chinese instruments in Mafra, a town which has a historical relationship with music.

The collection of musical instruments on display in the Gallery is part of the museum collection of the CCCM in Lisbon, representing original pieces used by the Macau Chinese Orchestra in its various performances in Europe throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Among the instruments on display are: aerophones, rubbed, fingered and percussion instruments, as well as metal, wooden and leather percussion instruments.
