CfP: 3rd Historical Music Conference “Notes in Time”

The Conservatory – Professional School of Arts of Madeira will host the 3rd Historical Music Conference “Notes in Time”, taking place on November 19–21, 2026, in Funchal, Madeira.

The conference aims to establish a space for dialogue and reflection on the richness and diversity of historical music in Madeira, the Atlantic world, and the broader context of Macaronesia. It seeks to provide a forum for discussion and knowledge-sharing on historical music, focusing particularly on Madeira and its interaction with the Atlantic space and the Macaronesian archipelagos.

The event is addressed to historians, researchers, teachers, University of Madeira students, and final-year students of the Conservatory’s professional courses. It aims to foster broad debate on the challenges and opportunities related to musicological research and historical performance practices.

The call for proposals is now open for:

  • paper presentations;
  • lecture-recitals;
  • musical practice workshops/laboratories.

Proposals should be submitted by June 30, 2026, to:
