Carla Minelli

Biography

Integrated researcher at INET-md, in the group of Historical and Cultural Studies in Music. She was born in Bologna (Italy), where she studied flute at the Giovan Battista Martini Conservatory of Music and Musicology at Bologna University. Between 1987 and 1995, she carried out field research among indigenous groups in Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador (Tropica Project – University of Bologna). She has been living in Lisbon since 1997. In 2014, she completed her PhD in Ethnomusicology at the Department of Musical Sciences at NOVA FCSH, with a thesis on the renewal of the festive process and its music, in Portugal. In 2015, she began studying the old documents from the Loreto Church archive, of which she also inventoried the old musical repository. She is a Musical Education teacher at the Agrupamento Eça de Queirós, in Lisbon.
