
Sofia Vieira Lopes and Isabel Campêlo, integrated researchers at INET-md, author, with Irving Wolther and Carla Figueira the most recent contribution by the team of EUROVISIONS: the chapter “‘Soldi’ vs. ‘Have Some Fun’: Volunteer Work in the Eurovision Song Contest”examines the use of volunteer labour at the Eurovision Song Contest and the moral and ethical questions raised by this practice, an issue of growing relevance for mega-events across Europe, and is included in the book Tourism, Events and Leisure Perspectives on the Eurovision Song Contest (Channel View Publications, 2026).
Edited by Oscar Vorobjavas-Pinta and Jack Shepherd, who was a guest speaker at the 8th EUROVISIONS International Conference in Basel in 2025, the book brings together cutting-edge research on the Eurovision Song Contest as a global cultural, touristic, and event-based phenomenon.
