Nery Borges, PhD researcher at INET-md, Pedro Rodrigues Ribeiro, Sofia Serra, integrated researcher at INET-md, Lurdes Veríssimo, Pedro Dias, Nádia Moura, Inês Silva, Isaac Raimundo, PhD researcher at INET-md, and Patrícia Oliveira-Silva author the article “From concept to proof: developing a neurofeedback-fNIRS protocol to train self-regulation for music performance anxiety in adolescent musicians”, published open access in the journal Frontiers in Psychology. The article was developed within the scope of the MUS-A project.

The protocol demonstrated technical feasibility, haemodynamic signal stability and progressive adaptation to training; these indicators were accompanied by exploratory evidence of modulation in prefrontal areas, consistent with mechanisms of emotional self-regulation.

Although preliminary, the study provides a promising methodological foundation for future research involving larger samples and controlled designs, contributing to the advancement of research into performance anxiety in music, neurofeedback, adolescence and technologies applied to music education.
