Abstract
(Escut)ando pelo Jardim proposes the development of a transdisciplinary work intersecting art, science, and technology, transforming the natural space of a garden into a living laboratory of coexistence. Through this approach, the project seeks to creatively challenge the current anthropocentric view and promote collective agency. To achieve this, the project relies on the hybridization of contemporary languages, expanding the boundaries of traditional artistic creation through plant biofeedback sonification, field recording, and improvisational performance, creating a direct bridge between aesthetic expression and ecological awareness.
The methodological narrative of this project is activated through a participatory dialogue between grandparents and grandchildren. The transformation of the participants into active agents of change is conveyed through practical workshops to collect the sound and video raw materials of the process. This cross-generational participation, combined with the recording of local soundscapes, further complements and enriches this process of collective self-discovery.
The creative process stems from a close collaboration between sound art, digital audiovisual design, integrating plant biofeedback research within a collaborative artistic residency. The outcome of this process is a series of audio-art and video-art objects that document the garden, serving as the foundation for a performance where two performers fuse the organic sound of the flute with technological textures of the garden and unconventional improvisation with ancestral instruments
(Escut)ando pelo Jardim will be disseminated through a comprehensive approach that combines mediation in the form of two commented demonstrations midway through the process and two live performances followed by open debates, ensuring the direct involvement of the community. Furthermore, the results and the knowledge generated will be registered on specialized platforms such as the Research Catalogue and social media, ensuring its continuity and visibility at both national and international levels.
