40º à Sombra is an interdisciplinary artistic creation for eight performers, inspired by Requiem (1991) by Antonio Tabucchi. Drawing on the fragmented structure of the work, a journey between noon and midnight on a summer day in Lisbon, it offers a contemporary reflection on memory, identity and belonging, bringing the Lusophone experience into focus as a sensory and symbolic territory.

Rejecting narrative adaptation and scenic illustration, the project develops an integrated compositional approach in which sound, voice, body, word, gesture and space function as interdependent materials. It is neither musical theatre nor a staged concert: the dramaturgy emerges from the interplay between sound organisation, physical action and spatial construction.

The methodology combines collaborative creation and artistic research through dramaturgical development and experimentation with the performers, technical and artistic consolidation, and intensive rehearsals. The strategy integrates creation, mediation and circulation through an open rehearsal during the residency, a preview performance and a transdisciplinary workshop. By bringing together urban contexts and less densely populated areas, artistic creation and training, the project promotes decentralisation, proximity and audience development, aiming to build lasting relationships between artistic creation, audiences and territory.
