From 12 to 15 August 2025, the Department of Body Arts of the Institute of Arts – IA and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Sound Communication – NICS will host the international event II Unicamp Dance in Networks.
The event will take place at the University of Campinas – UNICAMP, Brazil, under the coordination of Daniela Gatti, a collaborator with INET-md’s research group in Dance Studies. It is aimed at researchers, lecturers, students, and artists interested in dance creation and composition mediated by new technologies and interactive systems involving body, movement, sound, image, and computer programmes.
In addition to the round table titled “Dance – Movement – Sound – Technology” and presentations of research and multimodal experiments by the research group Núcleo de Dança Redes Unicamp, the event will also feature guest researchers Ana Maria Leitão (INET-md, RG Dance Studies, PT) and Julia Abs (BR), who will lead the immersive workshop “Scores and Generative Dances”. This workshop will explore two distinct approaches: choreographic composition through generative dance practices using the GDAM programme; and choreographic composition based on the improvisation method Improvisation Technologies by William Forsythe, alongside interdisciplinary work between dance and digital media to visualise choreographic knowledge, drawing on the Motion Bank and Choreographic Coding Lab projects.
The workshop is intended for dance artists, students, and professionals in the performing arts. Places are limited and registration is required via a form.
