From November 13 to 15, 2025, the INET-md branch at the Porto Polytechnic School of Education will host Autumn School 2025, under the theme “(Re)thinking music education practices, the profession, DIY culture and creative technologies in a time of crisis”. The event will bring together leading experts, researchers, and professionals in the field of music, aiming to combine academic reflection, pedagogical practice, and interdisciplinary dialogue.

Among the keynote speakers, Autumn School will feature: Heidi Westerlund (University of the Arts Helsinki, Sibelius Academy); Paula Guerra (University of Porto, Faculty of Arts); and Ethan Heine (New York University, Steinhardt School).

The program will also highlight practical workshops led by international specialists:

  • Fabio Ferrucci, Conservatorio di Musica Arrigo Boito;
  • Sofía Martínez Villar, Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya;
  • André Fischer, Zurich University of the Arts;
  • Stéphanie Sicsik-Gauthier, Conservatoire National Supérier de Musique et Danse de Paris.

The registration for the event is free and mandatory, and must be completed using this form.

This is an accredited event (25 hours → 1 credit) for teachers from groups M, 250, and 610.

This event is funded by national funds through FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., within the scope of the project UID 00472 – INET-md – Institute of Ethnomusicology – Centre for Studies in Music and Dance.
