Between 20 and 24 of April 2026, an artistic residency will be held in Aveiro within the project Sons com sabor de casa (Sounds with a Taste of Home), coordinated by Klênio Barros, with funding of DGARTES.
This residency will prioritize methodologies of musical co-creation rooted in active listening, improvisation, and learning in a community context, valuing cultural diversity as a driver of democratic practices and innovation
Funded by the Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes), within the Music and Opera Programme (Edition and Distribution), the project Sounds with a Taste of Home is inscribed in the fields of musical practices in the community and applied artistic research, focusing on the experiences of immigrant musicians and displaced musical communities in Portugal. Grounded in the understanding of music as intangible, embodied, and inherently portable heritage, the project explores its role in reconstructing senses of belonging and in the symbolic reconfiguration of the idea of “home” in contexts of mobility and displacement, through participatory and situated artistic processes.
