World Premiere of “V’s” by the “B’s”

On July 23, at 9:30 p.m., the Sala Suggia at Casa da Música will host the world premiere of “V’s” by the “B’s”, a new orchestral work by Nuno Peixoto Pinho.

Presented as part of the closing concert of the 16th National Symphony Orchestra Course of the AMCC Youth Symphony Orchestra, the work invites these young musicians to immerse themselves in my latest composition for symphony orchestra, challenging them to give voice to a sound world shaped by identity, memory, and symbolism.

Inspired by the 41.42 km² of Porto’s Historic Centre inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, “V’s” by the “B’s” is a tribute to the city of Porto and its identity: to the Luiz I Bridge, the Monastery of Serra do Pilar, the river, its people, and its unmistakable accent.

More than an evocation of Porto’s UNESCO-listed monuments, “V’s” by the “B’s” is a sonic portrait of a city where stone and people are inseparable—a tribute to a heritage that lives not only in its architecture but also in the voices, memories, and character of those who call it home.
