Sérgio Bordalo e Sá

Biography

Assistant Professor and Programme Coordinator of the BA in Animation and Visual Creation at IADE (since Sept. 2025). Visiting Assistant Professor at FMH (since Sept. 2025), where he was a postdoctoral research fellow (2015–2019) and subsequently an Assistant Researcher (2019–2025). Member of the Board of INET-md, serving as coordinator of this research unit’s branch at FMH (since 2023), and also Deputy Coordinator of CEAP (FMH) (since 2021). He holds a PhD in Artistic Studies – Film and Audiovisual Studies from FLUL (2013), an MA in Film Studies from the University of Iowa (2001), and a BA in Communication Sciences from NOVA FCSH (1998).
He held a research fellowship at CRIA (2014) in a project on tourist films and currently investigates, among other areas of interest, the relationship between dance and film. He was also a Visiting Adjunct Professor at the School of Arts and Design of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (2014) and at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (2018/19), and has been a member of the research team in three FCT-funded projects.
