He holds a PhD in Music from Queen’s University Belfast (2013) and was a postdoctoral researcher at NuSom – the Research Center on Sonology at the University of São Paulo. In 2019, he co-edited with Fernando Iazzetta the volume Making it Heard: A History of Brazilian Sound Art (Bloomsbury). Since 2019, he has co-coordinated the netlabel Berro with Iazzetta. He was a visiting professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the Federal University of Paraíba (2020–2024). He is currently an Auxiliary Researcher at INET-md, within a project funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (CEEC, ref. 2024.07928.CEECIND), entitled Revolutions per Minute: Finding Utopia(s) in Brazilian Sound Art, in which he investigates Brazilian sound art through its social, political, and community dimensions, exploring artistic practices as ways of imagining and constructing alternative futures. His artistic practice often involves poetic approaches that explore the relationship between sound, memory, and personal and collective narratives.
