Michele Leitão

Biography

Michele Akiko Toyama de Campos Leitão holds a degree in Dance from the Faculty of Human Kinetics and a postgraduate diploma in Artistic Practices and Social Inclusion from the Catholic University of Portugal. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Gerontology at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lisbon. In Brazil, she completed a degree in Office Automation Technology and Executive Secretariat with a focus on International Marketing, as well as a technical course in Data Processing. She also has training in classical ballet through the Royal Academy of Dance.

Her multidisciplinary background led her to establish dance as her primary field of professional practice, with interests centred on the relationship between artistic practices and social inclusion.

She currently collaborates in the management of science and technology activities under the coordination of the FMH hub of INET-md and its Dance Studies Research Group; she also serves as an editorial assistant for RED – Revista Estud(i)os de Dança and teaches dance within social inclusion projects aimed at promoting quality of life — in both emotional and physical dimensions — as well as the social integration of participants, fostering the development of autonomy and self-esteem.
