Maria José Araújo

Biography

Holding a PhD in Education Sciences from the University of Porto, she is an Integrated Researcher at INET-md/CIPEM. For several years, she has dedicated herself to teacher and educator training. Her research work focuses on the sociology of education and art, leisure and free time—especially regarding childhood and play—and music and arts education.

She collaborates with socio-recreational and cultural associations in mainland Portugal and the Azores islands—namely São Miguel, Corvo, and Flores—on cultural projects in the field of social and territorial cohesion, co-funded by DGArtes.

She cooperates with European intervention projects and networks. She is author of 12 books and 18 book chapters, as well as several articles published in national and international journals of reference.
