Francesca Negro
Biography
Francesca Negro is an independent researcher, and joined INET-md on July 4th of 2025. Dr. Negro has a Ph.D. and Post-doc research background in Comparative Literature, with experience in intermedia and interartistic studies. She also holds a Master of Arts in Performing Arts and she is author of the monograph Deuses em cena: a teatralização das danças religiosas de origem africanas em Cuba (Colibri, 2019). Her more recent publications focus on the domain of dance theatre and music and interartistic studies; among these:

She’s also a dancer performer and her most recent researches are related to oral and embodied memorial forms and to the Study of the Mediterranean as a place of cultural creolization.
Her most recent project is focused on the exploration of the roots of Moresca, and its spread as sword-dance through Spanish and Portuguese colonial territories.
