Filipe Pereira

Biography

PhD in Artistic Studies. Performer, theatre director, cultural producer and researcher in Ethnography of Performance. The work with Jerzy Grotowski, between 1990 and 1992 as a Gulbenkian Foundation fellow, constitutes his alma mater, providing an ethical and ontological dimension to his artistic work, rigor to the professional practice and radicalism to his phenomenological questioning of the world through art. He directed ACTO—Instituto de Arte Dramatica, the ESTA Festival (Estarreja), and Estúdio Performas (Aveiro), a. o. Since 2014 he is focused in the ethnographic study of ritual dance performances in South India.
