Biography
Degree in Musical Sciences from the New University of Lisbon and master in Musical Sciences from the University of Coimbra, Ph.D. in Education Sciences/Psychology of Music from the University of Aveiro with a grant from the FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology.
Head of the Covilhã branch of CPAI – Portuguese Club of Arts and Ideas (1990 – 1992). He is Coordinating Professor in the area of Music at the School of Education at Polytechnic University of Coimbra, teaching various subjects in the field of “Acoustics” on the degree courses of Applied Musical Studies and Multimedia Communication and Design.
He is a collaborating researcher at CIPEM/INET-md – Centre for Research in Psychology of Music and Music Education, at the Institute of Ethnomusicology – Centre of Music and Dance Studies. He has participated in national and international conferences, and published articles and book chapters in the areas of Psychoacoustics, Educational Sciences/Music Psychology, and Musical Iconography in national and international journals and books.
Participation in the following research projects: a) Active music education and the development of children from disadvantaged communities (CIPEM/INET-md); and b) Time to read: Links between time perception and reading skills (Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Porto).
