Altea Guevara

Biography

Researcher in the area of Communication and Cultural Industries at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), where she also teaches in the Department of Art History, Documentation, and Audiovisual Communication. She teaches courses related to cultural communication, creative project development, and interdisciplinary creation with a focus on sustainability. Her research focuses on the historically informed musical performance sector, with particular attention to sustainability and production, integrating approaches from ethnomusicology and cultural management.

From April 14 to September 7, 2025, she carried out a research stay at the Institute of Ethnomusicology – Centre for Studies in Music and Dance, where she was hosted by the Grupo de Investigação Estudos Históricos e Culturais em Música. During her visit, she developed a substantial part of her doctoral thesis, focused on creating a cartography and contemporary ethnography of the professional early music sector in Portugal.

An interdisciplinary artist with a background in design and visual arts, she combines her academic work with artistic creation. She holds a Master’s degree in cultural management and continues her vocal training, specializing in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire. She also explores the performance of vihuela, lute, and traditional Iberian percussion. She is a core member of the Valencian Renaissance polyphony ensemble Victoria Musicae and collaborates with various musical projects in Spain and abroad.
