Dora Utermohl de Queiroz, PhD collaborator at INET-md, Clarissa Foletto, and Guadalupe López-Íñiguez are the authors of the article Pedagogical approaches to promote self-regulation in musical instrument learning: A PRISMA scoping review, published in open access in the SAGE Open journal.

The study presents a scoping review of pedagogical approaches aimed at promoting self-regulated learning (SRL) in the teaching of musical instruments and singing. The research analysed 17 empirical studies, identifying the types of strategies considered to promote SRL, their modes of implementation, and the observed effects on students’ learning and performance.

The review highlights the use of practices such as specific self-regulation instructions, practice journals, and digital tools, while also pointing out gaps in underexplored contexts such as online and hybrid teaching.
