The guitarist Maria Beatriz Oliveira, INET-md’s PhD candidate at the University of Aveiro branch, has released the album “ODE”, a work entirely dedicated to the guitar repertoire of Portuguese female composers.

Dito pelo ChatGPT:

The album features three world premieres: A impermanência do ser by Ângela da Ponte; Lullaby for Beatriz by Sara Carvalho, composer and researcher at INET-md; and Febre by Mathilde Braun Martins, INET-md’s PhD candidate at the University of Aveiro branch. These premieres are complemented by pieces by Inés Badalo and Clotilde Rosa. Rosa’s eponymous work gives the album its title and frames both the beginning and the end of the programme, in a tribute to the composer’s central role in the Portuguese musical landscape of the 20th century

With the support of the GDA Foundation, Antena 2, and INET-md, the project involved a multidisciplinary team. The graphic design was created by Beatriz Fernandes, a former Design student from the Department of Communication and Art at the University of Aveiro, while recording, production, and editing were handled by José Lourenço of Produtora Grafonola. The album is available in physical format and includes a QR code for access to the digital version.

Launch concert

The launch concert took place last Friday, 12 September, at the Casa de Música de Aradas. In addition to the performer, several team members took to the stage, including Raquel Fonseca and the composer Ângela da Ponte, who spoke about the album and its journey.
