Agnès Pellerin, INET-md researcher, hired within the project EXIMUS, authors the article “Le retour d’exil du chanteur Luís Cília après le 25 avril 1974 : face aux « désillusions », poursuivre la lutte“, published in the special issues of the journal Exils et migrations ibériques aux XXe et XXIe siècles, titled “La Révolution des Œillets et les Portugais en France”, coordinated and edited by Marie-Christine Volovitch-Tavares, Cristina Clímaco and Emma Rubio-Milet.
Abstract:
Luís Cília (1943-) is one of the most important figures of the Portuguese exile in France during the Estado Novo. Opposed to the colonial wars and a militant member of the Portuguese Communist Party, he developed a career as a professional musician in France and sang in militant organizations opposed to the dictatorship, both in France and abroad.
Looking back on his experience, this article examines the circumstances and challenges of his return to Portugal after 25 April 1974, highlighting the lucid and demanding nature of his positions, as expressed in the press at the time and in more recent testimonies.
