Abstract
The goal of the project is to explore the ways to build ethnicity in social dance contexts. The main focus in recent years has been the dance phenomenon called kizomba. The fieldwork has been carried out in “African clubs”, kizomba nightclubs, dance schools and international festivals . By contrast settings, the ethnography includes the bailarico of the popular gatherings in Lisbon, the chotis in Madrid, and the bachata festivals in Spain.
