The Lisbon Polytechnic is a high-level public higher education institution, oriented towards the creation, transmission and dissemination of knowledge, culture and the arts, science and technology, through the articulation of study, teaching, research, development and knowledge transfer. Its mission is to produce, teach and disseminate knowledge, art and culture, as well as provide services to the community in the areas in which it has competencies, contributing to its consolidation as a benchmark institution at national and international level.

IPL’s institutional vision is based on the quality of its activities, with a view to their continuous improvement, promoting solid, relevant and highly qualified training for its graduates that contributes to their integration into the world of work.

Lisbon Polytechnic’s institutional values are:

The Lisbon Polytechnic’s priorities are the creation, transmission and dissemination of knowledge in its areas of expertise – arts, communication, education, health, engineering and business sciences. In addition, it is committed to promoting culture and the arts in Portugal and beyond.

The Lisbon Polytechnic aims to be a transforming agent capable of defining strategies based on the principles of equality and diversity, arguing that higher education institutions should contribute to ensuring that women and men, girls and boys, in all their diversity, are equal and free to follow the life path of their choice, have the same opportunities to realize their potential and can participate in society and lead it on equal terms.

With a view to developing the potential of each person, each community and each society, IPL defends and promotes equality between women and men, non-discrimination, non-violence and diversity, in accordance with the Portuguese Charter for Diversity. The institution intends to make a commitment to a set of measures to be implemented in the short and medium term, seeking to give a boost to gender equality in the IPL community.
