Lisbon’s Fado

This workshop challenges participants to produce an original fado together. The main purpose is to write lyrics to a traditional melody “A casa da Mariquinhas”, to practice singing and to perform this fado at the end of the session. As was the case at ICTM 22, the session is guided by a specialist of fado and PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology Maria Espírito Santo and accompanied by professional guitarists Arménio de Melo (portuguese guitar) and João Vaz, with technical support provided by the Toca das Artes association.
