Tradition in Motion: Practices, Community and Research in Dialogue
We propose a reflection on the relationships between tradition, artistic creation, community practices and dance research, considering how different repertoires and cultural practices contribute to the preservation of collective memory, the appreciation of cultural diversity and the construction of spaces for encounter and participation.
This roundtable also intends to discuss how traditional practices may become pedagogical, artistic and social tools capable of strengthening community ties, promoting intercultural and intergenerational dialogue and stimulating contemporary creative processes rooted in situated cultural experiences.
In a context marked by accelerated social transformations and identity-related challenges, it becomes important to think of tradition not as a fixed or static element, but rather as a living territory of transmission, reinvention and cultural negotiation. Through dialogue between professionals with distinct trajectories, this session aims to create a space for critical sharing around practices, methodologies and experiences intersecting dance, community and research.
