Until 30 September, the José Afonso Association (AJA) – Lisbon is hosting the exhibition “Emigration, Exile and Protest Song”, which was originally produced as part of the activities of the Observatory of Protest Song (OCP) and first presented during the 2020 Protest Song Meeting, dedicated to José Mário Branco and the theme of exile.
The exhibition brings together texts and a wide range of iconographic materials documenting the experiences of several Portuguese singers who lived in exile in France from the mid-1960s until the 25th April 1974 Revolution, as well as the vibrant artistic activity developed within the associative and political networks of the Portuguese emigrant community.
The exhibition is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the AJA Lisbon Centre.
