The Lopes-Graça Choir of the Academia de Amadores de Música was founded in 1945 by Fernando Lopes-Graça, who directed it until 1988, succeeding the conductor José Robert, and, more recently, Alexandre Weffort. The choir performed for the first time in the scope of the presentation of the Movimento Unidad Democrática, to which it was linked, in Lisbon, followed by more than 800 public presentations dedicated to the interpretation of songs written by Fernando Lopes-Graça or harmonized by him, many of the which were recorded on fourteen discs.
