From November 19 to 21, 2026, the INET-md branch at the Faculty of Education of the Technical University of Porto will host the Autumn School 2026, under the theme “Listening, imagining, sharing and experiencing sound worldliness: between creative, artistic and educational processes”. The event will bring together renowned specialists, researchers, and professionals in the field of music, aiming to combine academic reflection, pedagogical practice, and interdisciplinary dialogue.
Among the keynote speakers, the Autumn School will welcome António Sousa Dias (University of Lisbon – Faculty of Fine Arts – Research Center for Fine Arts); Elizabeth Hellmuth Margulis (Princeton University – Music Department); and Anna Xambó Sedó (University of London – School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science).
The program also features practical classes on stage led by international experts:
- Erik Albjerg, Royal Conservatoire The Hague;
- Fabio Ferrucci, Conservatorio di Musica Arrigo Boito;
- Kent Douglas Cleland, Baldwin Wallace University – Conservatory of Performing Arts;
- Maria Medby Tollefsen, Arctic University of Norway – Academy of Music.
Registration for the event is free of charge but mandatory, and must be completed through a specific form that will be available starting November 1st.
This event is currently in the accreditation process for teachers in groups M, 250, and 610.
The Autumn School is funded by national funds through FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., under project UID 00472 – INET-md – Institute of Ethnomusicology – Center for Studies in Music and Dance, and by the Luso-American Development Foundation.
