Roundtable with Dance Professionals on the theme “Tradition in Motion: Practices, Community and Research in Dialogue”
Integrated within the Permanent Seminar of the Dance Studies Research Group (GIED) of INET-md, this roundtable aims to promote a critical reflection on the relationships between tradition, artistic practices and dance research, highlighting the role of communities in the transmission of knowledge, the construction of cultural identities and the development of creative and pedagogical processes.
The discussion will also address how traditional repertoires and practices may constitute spaces for interdisciplinary dialogue, cultural mediation and the strengthening of community ties, contributing to the appreciation of cultural diversity and to the renewal of contemporary artistic practices.

Public presentation of choreographic works in the field of Portuguese and International Traditional Dances, created by first-year Dance degree students from FMH and invited community groups.
Within the scope of the Dance degree programme at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon, and more specifically the course Dance Techniques – Portuguese, International, American Tap Dance and Sevillanas, the 7th Meeting of Dances with Tradition: from the village square to the stage will take place on 4 June at the Ruy de Carvalho Auditorium.
This event aims to strengthen connections with and within the community, creating a space to discuss “Tradition in Motion: Practices, Community and Research in Dialogue” with different audiences, while also giving visibility to dance works that incorporate, to varying extents, national and international dance traditions.
The performance Co(m)Tradição closes the 7th EDT and features invited groups working with danced traditions in community contexts, as well as works of Portuguese and international traditional dances, Sevillanas and American tap dance created by first-year students of the FMH Dance degree programme.
