Filipe Lopes

Biography

Filipe Lopes, PhD, is a composer and Adjunct Professor at the School of Media Arts and Design (ESMAD) at Porto Polytechnic Institute. He is a researcher at the Research Center in Music Psychology and Music Education (CIPEM) under the Institute of Ethnomusicology (INET-md) and part of the ESMAD ID+ research team as well as part of the Music and Sound Cultures Research Center (MaSC) research team at the NYU Abu Dhabi.

His work spans music composition, electroacoustic music, and digital interactive systems, composing music for ensembles, multimedia installations, cinema, and theatre. Currently, he is focused on blending music education with digital technologies, studying the intersection of music, culture, and nature, and developing new electroacoustic instruments.
