Performa Ensemble is preparing to cross the Atlantic with the project Trans/Atlantic, funded by the Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes). Between September and October 2025, this touring initiative will take the Portuguese trio to Brazil and Colombia. The tour focuses on the dialogue between repertoires dedicated to the ensemble by Portuguese composers and new works from the countries visited, likewise written or arranged for this formation.

Over the course of 19 years of activity, Performa Ensemble has maintained a constant presence on both national and international stages, distinguishing itself through its close engagement with contemporary creation. The group has commissioned and premiered numerous works by Portuguese composers, resulting in a diverse corpus that will now be set in contrast and dialogue with works by Brazilian and Colombian authors. Performa Ensemble and the Trans/Atlantic project are formed by Helena Marinho, researcher at INET-md and coordinator of the Aveiro branch (piano), Henrique Portovedo, researcher at INET-md (saxophone), and Jorge Salgado Correia, researcher at INET-md (flute).
About the Trans/Atlantic Project
Trans/Atlantic proposes a tour by Performa Ensemble to Brazil and Colombia, exploring the dialogue between repertoires dedicated to the group by Portuguese composers and creations by composers from the countries visited, written or arranged specifically for the ensemble. A series of five concerts, masterclasses, and lectures will showcase, in particular, contemporary Portuguese creators and their connections with other ways of expressing music across the Atlantic.
