Abstract

Traditional music plays an important role in building local, regional and national identities. With this project we intend bestow visibility and intelligibility to the cross-border relations that occur in  Alentejo / Extremadura / Andalusia. Within the dialectic of historical continuity and socio-cultural transformation processes, we question the musical practices of oral tradition and cultural heritage processes, involving the economic and political dimensions, focussing on individuals as social agents.
