The SHORES project, funded by Creative Europe, aims to make communities aware, through music creation, of the negative impact of overuse and contamination on lakes, rivers and oceans, in their interaction with the land and human beings. The project aims, through musical practice and creation, to draw attention to fracturing issues and promote sustainable ways of living. Thus, SHORES will explore artifacts, sounds and music associated with the spaces between water and land, to address objectives of sustainability and transnational circulation, based on the perspectives of composers / sound artists and local communities.

SHORES involves a consortium of 4 institutions, led by the University of Aveiro (Portugal), and including the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway), the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Netherlands), and Navalha Associação Cultural (Portugal, associate partner). These partners will combine their experience in artistic research and European networks, forming a platform for creation and collaboration centered on the environment.

SHORES will promote its objectives through workshops and artistic residencies that will involve both communities and artists, generating artistic outcomes, events, and online resources to disseminate the project’s contribution at a European level, raising awareness of the issues affecting our coastlines.
