Partnerships and Networks

The importance of INET-md’s (Instituto de Etnomusicologia – Centro de Estudos em Música e Dança) national and international research partnerships and networks lies in their ability to promote the exchange of knowledge, interdisciplinary collaboration and scientific innovation. These partnerships enrich research, broaden cultural and technological horizons and strengthen the global impact of scientific discoveries, contributing to a more integrated and sustainable development of the arts and humanities.

Ongoing National Partnerships
Festival Dias da Música Electroacústica

Since 2006, INET-md and the Convservatório de Música de Seia have been organising the Dias de Música Electroacústica Festival.

Instituto de Sociologia, Universidade do Porto

The partnership established between CIPEM/INET-md (branch of Politécnico do Porto) and the Instituto de Sociologia da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto began as part of the research projecPromover a inclusão social através do envolvimento com a música – o projeto Orquestra Geração”, with reference PTDC/CPE-CED/120596/2010.

Since then, the exchange has continued with a view to developing studies and activities in scientific areas of interest to both institutions and also to the possible construction of a joint doctoral programme.

INET-md has collaborated with the Museu da Música on exhibitions and other projects.

Ministério da Cultura

INET-md is the main consultant to the Ministry of Culture for the formation of a Arquivo Nacional do Som. The Secretary of State for Culture has appointed a member of the unit and its coordinator to be in charge of a committee to draw up a proposal to found a Arquivo Nacional do Som, which will be installed in the Museu da Música with the collaboration of INET-md.

International Council for Traditional Music

INET-md is the headquarters of the National Committee of the International Council for Traditional Music and regularly collaborates in its initiatives, such as congresses, colloquia and publications.

Edition and critical study of sound recordings of rural music made in mainland Portugal by folklorist Armando Leça between 1939 and 1940.

Fundação Yehudi Menuhin (Portugal)

Participation in the Yehudi Menuhin International Foundation’s MUS-E project with researchers as artist-teachers and consultants (Margarida Moura and Daniel Tércio).
The project promotes social integration and seeks to reduce levels of violence, racism and social exclusion among young people through music, singing, dance and artistic disciplines.

Creation of an online multimedia database on music in Portugal in the 20th century.

Design, application and analysis of a survey of traditional music groups, carried out as part of the project A Revivificação do Património Tradicional, the results of which are published in the book Vozes do Povo: A Folclorização em Portugal (Voices of the People: Folklorisation in Portugal).
