The Music Acoustics Laboratory was recently established to promote research (Music Acoustics and Sound Studies Group) and support the teaching of Music Acoustics at INET-md and the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences (Postgraduate Program in Acoustics and Sound Studies).
It is equipped with a wide range of instruments for vibrational and acoustic measurements and benefits from the diverse technical and theoretical expertise of the team members. Its research activities are focused on developing analytical techniques to investigate the physical behavior of musical instruments, utilizing vibrational and acoustic measurements, 3D scanning technology, and modal analysis.
It also offers a series of demonstration experiments to illustrate the physical principles behind sound production phenomena and introduce students to advanced tools and techniques in sound and vibration engineering.
