Living from Music without Relying on Competitions: Communication and Positioning Strategies for Building an Independent Musical Career

Carla Moreia | Universidade de Aveiro

In an ever-evolving artistic landscape, it is increasingly important for musicians to develop the skills to communicate their work strategically, authentically, and distinctively. This talk offers a practical reflection on the role of digital presence and the conscious construction of an artistic identity in building sustainable and independent professional paths.

Addressed to students and professionals in the field of music, the session presents key tools to help musicians enhance their visibility, create opportunities, and establish themselves in the artistic world without relying exclusively on orchestra competitions or institutional positions. More than a motivational speech, this is a structured sharing of alternative and achievable pathways, grounded in a contemporary vision of a musical career in which the artist also takes on the roles of communicator, creator, and agent of their own journey.
