Launch of the CD “Revolução e Liberdade”

Last 17th of May, the Quinteto de Sopros do Vale, where Ana Margarida Cardoso, INET-md’s researcher, is included, launched the CD Revolução e Liberdade in an event hosted by the National Museum of Resistance and Freedom, in Peniche. This record aims to promote the repertoire for woodwind quintet by Portuguese composers, and also to reaffirm the value of Freedom and sharing the idea of how it was to be a musician and composer before the 25th of April. The composer António Vitorino de Almeida, who authored one of the recorded tracks, was invited to portrait, in his own voice, the life of a musician of that time, also sharing the memories of some other of his peers. During the the conversation, mediated by Ana Margarida, several pieces of this record where being played by the Quinteto de Sopros do Vale, joining Vitorino de Almeida, Marcos Romão, Lopes-Graça and Gualtério Armando, hereby reunited for their common experience of being confronted, in different ways, by authoritarian regimes which led them to position themselves in more or less active or nonconforming manners.
