Biography

Doctorate (Ph.D.) by the University of Aveiro, in Music, Master (M.Sc.) in Music Education, by the University of Minho and Specialized Teacher in Music from the Consortium of Polytechnic Institutes. Also, specialized scientific-pedagogical training in Orff-Schulwerk was acquired in Austria, Brazil, Canada, Slovakia, Spain, Finland, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, England, Italy, Latvia and Sweden. He has been a fellow of entities such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, American Orff-Schulwerk Association, Carl Orff Foundation / Orff-Schulwerk Forum Salzburg and the Spanish Orff Association.
National Coordinator (Portugal) of the EAS - European Association for Music in Schools. INET-md Fellow Researcher, Institute of Ethnomusicology - Center for Studies in Music and Dance (University of Aveiro. Portugal). CIEB Collaborative Researcher - Center for Basic Education Studies (Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Portugal), Local Ambassador of PEEA - Aesthetic and Artistic Education Program, by invitation of the General Directorate of Education - Ministry of Education.
Teacher of Music / Music Education at the level of Pre-school Education, Basic, Secondary and Higher Education and teacher training in the areas of Music / Music Education. Currently, he teaches at the Emídio Garcia School Group (Bragança) and, since 2008, at the Music Education Department of the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, as an Invited Adjunct Professor (part-time).
Author (books/chapters/articles/communications/workshops) at national and international conferences, congresses and symposia (Austria, Spain, Finland, Greece, England, Latvia and Sweden) focusing on areas of interest and research on Orff-Schulwerk - pedagogical approaches, aiming at the holistic development of the Human Person, putting together Language, Music, Movement and Dance.
In parallel with his teaching and research career, in 2014 he founded the 'Senior University of Vinhais' (RUTIS), acting as a volunteer in the roles of Professor and Director
