Arts and cultural productions are at the centre of my academic and professional work. My domain of specialization is the sociological and anthropological study of artistic ways of expression as tools for education towards socioeconomically disadvantaged populations in Europe, Latin America, Africa and the USA. I am focused on the nature of interactions produced by projects involving music and dance as reasons to be, to learn, to progress and to create together.
I study the complexity of social interactions between all the involved actors (e.g. teachers, students, parents, staff, directors). To it, I add the influence of the surrounding objects, and of the social environments around music school (e.g. streets, neighbourhoods, cities, cultures). This kind of research is reinforced by my experience as a professional musician and a social worker.
I am specialized in qualitative methods of research: ethnographical observation; semi-structured interviews; focus-groups; inductive approach; comparison; multi-sited ethnography; thick description; grounded-theory; reflexivity.
