Hélder Sá studied at the Conservatory of Music of Porto, Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo (ESMAE) and University of Aveiro. Malgorzata Wierzba, Josif Grinman, Zofia Woycicka, Aníbal Lima (violin), Richard Woicicky, Ana Mafalda Castro (chamber music) and António Saiote (orchestra) were among his teachers. He holds two Master degrees in Performance and Music Education with the researches "The Russian violin school of the twentieth century and its presence in Portugal" and "How to study Studies Op. 20 by H. E. Kayser". Currently studying for a PhD in Music at the University of Aveiro, under the guidance of Helena Marinho, his research focus is "The violin in Portugal in the First Republic: contexts, performers and repertoires". He has participated in several music research conferences and published in the journal ÍMPAR: Online Journal for Artistic Research and Ava: Musical Editions. Hélder is a member of INET-md and participates in the projects "Euterpe Revealed" and "Being a Musician in Portugal". He teaches violin at Óscar da Silva School of Music and Santa Maria da Feira Music Academy. Besides music, he is Civil Engineer.
