Biography

Ana Luísa Veloso is a researcher at INET-md - Instituto de Etnomusicologia - Centro de Estudos de Música e Dança, at the University of Aveiro. She has a PhD in Music Pedagogy from the University of Aveiro and completed her PhD in 2012 with a grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology. From 2015 to 2020 she was a post-doctoral fellow at CIPEM. Here, she had the opportunity to broaden her knowledge and experience in areas such as Music Education, Musical Creativity, Composition and Improvisation, Contemporary and Experimental Music in Educational Contexts, Formal and Non-formal Learning Contexts, or Music, Personal and Social Transformation, which are fundamental to her work today. She has also had the opportunity to lead and participate in research projects related to the areas mentioned above, which has allowed her to broaden her visibility through extensive production, both in terms of articles in international journals with a high impact factor, book chapters and oral communications, either by submission or as a guest.

She was a member of the board of the Portuguese Association for Music Education (APEM), the Portuguese representative of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) of the ISME National Affiliates (INA Portuguesa), director of the Portuguese Journal of Music Education and national coordinator of the European Association for Music in Schools. She is a member/artist of the Sonoscopia Associação, where she actively develops her activity as a musician and guitarist, collaborating in various groups linked to improvisation, contemporary and experimental music and sound art.
